Iran, Russia sign three cooperation documents

Iranian Petroleum Minister Javad Owji and Deputy prime minister of Russia Alexander Novak signed three cooperation documents.

The two sides signed a joint statement following a meeting of the chairmen of the Joint Commission on Trade Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding between the National Iranian Petrochemical Company and the Russian Chemists Union regarding the exchange of technical knowledge and cooperation of experts in the field of petrochemical equipment and the 12th protocol of the meeting of the Working Group on Transport Cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation.

Earlier speaking to reporters, Owji said: “We had good talks with the Russian delegation, which led to the signing of agreements.”

Iran and Russia have good capacities for cooperation in banking, transportation, agriculture, etc, he added.

In the banking sector, the most important axis was using national currencies and financial transactions, and good negotiations took place, he noted.

Part of Russia's $5b worth of credit for energy, agriculture and transportation has been put into operation, and another part was decided today.

In the field of energy, good negotiations were held and we made good agreements, which led to a memorandum of understanding in the upstream field, petrochemical industry and the export of technical and engineering services.

He went on to say that Iran and Russia are both under oppressive sanctions which can be neutralized by working together and developing relations in various fields.
