Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a meeting with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer appreciated the measures taken by the ICRC in line with finding remains of the martyrs of Iran-Iraq imposed war and those who were missing.

During the meeting which was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the General Assembly, Amir Abdollahian referred to the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, and described the relentless efforts of the personnel of the Iranian missions in that country, as well as related organizations inside Iran, to help the displaced people in recent weeks.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, and despite all the pressures imposed on Iranian society, we tried to vaccinate the displaced Afghans as much as possible, but in this regard, immediate and serious international assistance is needed.

The US cruel sanctions are an inhumane act and a blatant terrorism against the Iranian people that must be rejected by all.

Meanwhile, Maurer praised close cooperation with Iran and its hosting of Afghan refugees.

ICRC has been one of the most important donors to Afghanistan and a supplier of humanitarian aid to that country.

Regarding the ICRC activities in Yemen, Maurer stressed difficult situation in Yemen and economic presses imposed on Yemeni.
