FM reiterates importance of Africa in Iran’s foreign policy

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a meeting with his Namibian counterpart Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized the importance of Africa in Iran’s foreign policy t and described Namibia as a friendly country,

During the meeting which was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the General Assembly, Amir Abdollahian said Iran has supported Namibia in their struggle for independence.

He called for holding the joint economic commission meeting.

He referred to problems in bilateral trade relations especially in banking and financial issues, and reviewed ways to solve the issue.

Meanwhile, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah referred to the background of relations between the two countries and offered Namibian government’s readiness for developing cooperation in trade, mine, agricultural, health and pharmaceutical fields.

Despite the fact that US sanctions have created many obstacles for relations, but because relations with Iran are of great importance to Namibia, the country has made every effort to minimize the damage to bilateral ties.
