Iran’s Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei said Iran has always welcomed holding talks with Saudi Arabia and has had positive view in this regard.

Iran’s principled positions have always been followed up on the basis of high-ranking bodies’ instructions, Rabiei said.

Regional talks is a permanent necessity and we have so far emphasized the regional negotiations, he added.

Iran has always been after maintaining peace and security of the Persian Gulf region by regional countries, he noted.

We have always welcomed holding talks to achieve the results and have had positive view toward negotiation with Saudi Arabia, he reiterated.

Iran-Saudi Arabia bilateral talks have been underway through appropriate channels, Rabiei said.

We are committed to continuation of consultations to resolve all the differences between the two countries, and if there is any need to increase the level of conversations, we will have no limitation in this regard, he noted.

Elaborating on the latest situation of swapping 10 prisoners between Iran and the US, he said over the last few years, Iran has repeatedly expressed its readiness to exchange prisoners aiming to maintain human dignity of individuals and their families, he stated.

Our readiness has not been limited to Biden administration and if it has not yet happened was due to former and incumbent US administrations’ readiness, Rabiei said.

Unfortunately, it seems that in contrast with understandings, the US administration, for unacceptable reasons has linked the issue of releasing prisoners to JCPOA negotiations, he added.

We encourage the US administration to set aside this unconventional approach aiming to respect the human rights of prisoners more than common political issues, he noted.

Needless to say that the US administration would be responsible for any delay in releasing prisoners, he said.
