Iranian First Vice-President Es’haq Jahangiri visited Imam Khomeini Port in Khuzestan province, south-western Iran, which he described as one of the country’s most strategic and biggest ports.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Saturday visit, Jahangiri said the port plays a key role in the supply of basic commodities, which are imported here and distributed across the country.

He said the administration managed to provide enough basic supplies despite the enemy’s economic war.

“What hurt people in this period of time was not a shortage of basic goods, but the price hikes,” he noted.

Jahangiri vowed that the country is in talks with the Parliament to control the price of basic commodities, and prevent further price hikes and pressure on the Iranian people.
